International Pre-Orientation (IPO)

International Pre-Orientation (IPO) provides a platform for students from around the world to ease into their transition into the University of Chicago. Organized by the College Programming Office, this six-day event allows incoming students the opportunity to explore campus, the neighborhood of Hyde Park, and the city of Chicago while making friends and getting to know upperclass students in the College.

This year, International Pre-Orientation will run from Sunday, September 10th through Friday, September 15th.  It is an opportunity for international students to meet faculty members, staff, and students who are here to help orient them to Chicago and the College.  The program focuses on life in college and getting to know the campus and city of Chicago, while also providing students with some time to recover from travels and relax in preparation for Orientation.

International Pre-Orientation is optional and space is limited. This program is for incoming undergraduate students only. Transportation from either O'Hare or Midway Airport, housing throughout the full duration of the program and meals are covered by the program fee paid by participants.
