The first official welcome to the newly entering College class, Orientation is a week long program that provides programs, resources and tools that helps maximize the academic and personal success of entering students. This mid-fall event gives families the opportunity not only to visit their students but also to gain an understanding of their college students’ daily lives. Students, alumni, and friends are invited to celebrate Homecoming. Homecoming festivities include a block party, tailgate, the inter-House tug-o-war, live music, a kids area, and, of course, the Homecoming football game! Taking the Next Step is a one-day, conference-style career exploration and exposure program in early January that allows first- and second-year students to explore post-graduation options and meet and speak with alumni of the College. This week celebrates and culminates the College experience for fourth-year students. The week's highlights include fourth-year focused social events, the Class Day celebration, a graduation celebration at the Museum of Science and Industry for students and their families, the University’s formal Convocation Ceremony, and the College Diploma Ceremonies.
