The first official welcome to the newly entering College class, Orientation is a week long program that provides programs, resources and tools that helps maximize the academic and personal success of entering students. Family WeekendFamily Weekend

This mid-fall event gives families the opportunity not only to visit their students but also to gain an understanding of their college students’ daily lives. Families will meet faculty and administrators, and can attend a variety of model classes, tours, workshops and social events. For more information, please visit the Family Weekend website.


Students, alumni, and friends are invited to celebrate Homecoming. Homecoming festivities include a block party, tailgate, the inter-House tug-o-war, live music, a kids area, and, of course, the Homecoming football game! S2SSteps to Success

Steps to Success, a multi-part series sponsored by the College, Career Advancement, and the Center for Leadership and Involvement, helps first-year students make the most of their four years at UChicago while also preparing them for life after college. These class-wide events help you discover natural talents and build on them to achieve academic, personal, and career excellence; assist in transitioning your high school résumé into a collegiate one; coach you on making the most of your summer opportunities and taking advantage of the many options the College offers; and help you explore post-college options, including nationally competitive opportunities, graduate or professional school, and careers in any number of industries. TNSTaking the Next Step

Taking the Next Step is a one-day, conference-style career exploration and exposure program in early January that allows first- and second-year students to explore post-graduation options and meet and speak with alumni of the College. CHACollege Honors Awards Reception

Each spring, the College recognizes students for a variety of awards and honors. While CPO does not actually grant any of the honors, we coordinate the process and assembly for the entire College. For more information, please visit the College Honors Awards website.

SWSenior Week and Convocation

This week celebrates and culminates the College experience for fourth year students. The week's highlights include fourth-year focused social events, a convocation celebration at the Museum of Science and Industry for student and their families, and the University’s formal Convocation ceremony.
